When the boss himself stands over the cooker… The hutkeeper-chef and his team conjures up delicious South Tyrolean culinary treats

Meinrad - the boss, hutkeeper and chef at the GITSCHhütte in the skiing and alpine region of Gitschberg Jochtal - is a passionate qualified chef and hutkeeper.

With his kitchen team he conjures up traditional South Tyrolean dishes from countless local quality products from the Gitschberg Jochtal holiday region. The well ripened alpine cheese, fresh milk and buttermilk, the free range eggs from the farm and the homemade jams, juices, apple strudel and sweet cakes of the day speak for themselves.

The tender meat dishes produced from quality South Tyrolean beef and pork and the traditional speck (bacon) snack board promise unforgettable moments of indulgence.

For special occasions such as company celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays and parties, our kitchen team cooks “SUMMIT”-class meals.

Because it’s cosy I feel at home here

You can expect a modern, homey atmosphere and an attentive, warm and friendly team at the hut. Order delicious pick-me-ups and wintry classics such as mulled wine, bombardino (hot egg liqueur with whipped cream), punch and jägertee (black tea with rum) straight from the drinks bar on our sun terrace and enjoy the view of the South Tyrolean mountain scenery.

Drop in and spend a few pleasant, cosy hours in our hut in good company, or warm yourself after an eventful day’s skiing in the parlour.

Eating is a necessity, enjoyment an art.
