The GITSCHberg and the GITSCHhütte ...

... unfortunately do not take their name from the many strong and capable “Gitschn”,– which, in the South Tyrolean dialect, simply means young women. Not that we don't have any here, and some even find that the mountain's peculiar shape resembles a lying girl … with a lot of imagination. "Gitsch" actually comes from the Latin “acutiare”, meaning “to take the tip”. Through “l agütsch” and “agitz” it evolved to “gütsch” and finally to Gitsch, which is the current word for a blunt or stumped hill. So, come to the Gitsch, whoosh down the slopes, have fun, and enjoy exciting times at the Gitschhütte!

The GITSCHhütte is also our second home and for this very reason, it is important to us that you feel good here.
